Cranes for Sale
If you're shopping for a crane to assist you in your business, you've probably encountered more questions than you have answers. Actually, that's a good way to start--asking yourself questions. Because this massive piece of equipment isn't a purchase to be taken lightly, and you truly must consider your current and future needs of the crane as part of the buying process.
Of course, if you already know what brand of crane you want to buy, the manufacturer's website is a good place to start. If you've already developed trust in a crane, or you've spoken to other business owners about their equipment, the manufacturer can certainly link you to dealers in your area. However, keep in mind that advice from someone who uses the crane in a completely different application or work environment won't tell you everything you need to know. Talk to the sales representative about your specific needs.
Cranes are expensive pieces of equipment, so many people consider buying them used. There are a number of companies--including those same major manufacturers--that deal in used equipment of all types, including the most commonly used, bridge cranes and jib cranes. The important thing is to speak to someone about the specific use of your crane, the size and weight of your loads, and the kind of workspace you'll be operating your crane in.
There are also a number of "trader" type websites that allow sellers to list their used cranes, and buyers can search or browse by brand, type, or price. Hand in hand with these are auction sites, which allow similar search options, and often can get you a great deal in terms of the price of the crane. Make sure, though, that you get all use and condition reports of the used equipment when possible, and that you are aware of the reason for buying that specific cane, aside from the great deal you're getting!
Even if you're buying used, you can often find the specifications of cranes on the original manufacturers' website, and sometimes an original list price as well. This will give you an idea of how much money you're actually saving versus buying new equipment, and you'll know if the crane you're looking at will handle the jobs you'll need it for. There is also a publication known as the Green Guide that can give you information about original cost and current value of construction equipment, including cranes.
So when you're searching for cranes for sale, yes, you'll find them! Just ensure that you make a good buying decision by asking yourself the right questions--and getting answers that actually help.
