Major Forklift Manufacturers

There are literally hundreds of forklift manufacturers, and makers of forklift parts, throughout the world. Some manufacturers specialize in particular types of forklifts, and they have long-standing reputations in the industry. Businesses that employ material handlers often develop trust and stick to a specific brand of equipment, while others prefer to experiment or simply get the best deal at the moment.

Some of the major forklift manufacturers in the business today are:

* Clark: Clark is a hundred-year-old company, and is known as the maker of the first forklift. They continue to be an industry leader, producing both electric and internal combustion units. They build narrow aisle forklifts, narrow and manual pallet jacks, stackers, electric tuggers, and order pickers.

* Caterpillar: Now part of Mitsubishi Caterpillar America forklifts, you've likely seen these bright yellow forklifts that announce "CAT." Their major manufacturing plant and headquarters are located in Houston, Texas, with dealers and suppliers located throughout the U.S., Mexico, Asia, and Europe.

* Daewoo: Daewoo, now known as Doosan Infracore America Corporation, is headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia and maintains offices and technical service centers throughout North America. Its products, still known under the Daewoo name, are sold exclusively through a network of independent distributors located in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
